Floyd J. McCree Courts and Human Services Center

67th & 68th District Courts, Genesee County Health Dept., and Parking Deck Restoration
630 South Saginaw Street, Flint, Michigan

Back in early 1990's CHMP was commissioned to convert 191,000 s.f. of vacant retail space into a two story Courts and Human Services Center.  The upper level was designed for both Genesee County Health Department and State of Michigan Family Independent Agency.  The lower level was designed to house the 67th District Court (Genesee County) and the 68th District Court (City of Flint) along with space for the Genesee County Community Action Agency (GCCARD). The project scope also included restoration of an existing multi-story parking garage (attached); space for the Genesee County Prosecutor, Pretrial Services, and holding/sallyport for prisoner holding and transport.

In 2011 a major watermain break occurred flooding the basement and entire first floor of the facility.  CHMP was retained to develop plans for the complete restoration of the first floor occupants and to design a multitude of upgrades.  Upgrades included moving the Genesee County Juvenile Probation Department into the facility; reducing the space allocated for the 68th District Court; Courtroom upgrades for the 67th District Court; relocation of the Genesee County Prosecutor’s office; and ADA improvements to the public restrooms.  The restoration and upgrades were completed in mid-summer of 2012.
