State of Michigan - G. Mennen Williams Building

Upgrade Restrooms
525 West Ottawa Street, Lansing, Michigan

CHMP was retained in 2013 to design upgrades for the existing restrooms in the seven story office building housing the State of Michigan Attorney General’s office.  The scope of work included complete demolition and replacement of all plumbing fixtures, toilet partitions, toilet accessories, counters, and interior finishes.  The project scope included 16 multi-occupant toilet rooms; two single occupancy toilet rooms, four new shower rooms, and two new lactation rooms.  The project also included replacement of older piping systems related to the toilet rooms.  In order to achieve continued occupancy of the facility and minimize disruption, the project was designed to be constructed in two phases, allowing access to toilet rooms on every other floor.  Finishes were selected for minimizing maintenance and durability including porcelain tile with epoxy grout for floors and walls; solid surface counter tops; and solid plastic toilet partitions.  Energy efficiency was another priority with the incorporation of automatic controlled flush valves, faucets, soap dispensers and LED lighting throughout.
